The Rhythm and Dance Experience of a Lifetime!

Mesmera, Belly Dance in AfricaDear Dancers, Musicians and Friends,

Here's the new itinerary for Safari 2004, and I can't wait until we're dancing in the wind at the feet of Kilimanjaro, swimming in the warm blue Indian Ocean, feasting our senses on life in balance and getting a priority adjustment. I'm especially excited about including Tanzania! A whole new frontier awaits to enrich our senses. I design the Safari so that we have a chance to nourish ourselves in the power places of a fertile source, where the sacred wisdom of nature prevails as it has since the beginning of time. Explore Instinct and Freedom! Renew Creative Spirit that was never meant to be tamed! We'll dance, play, learn, eat great food, luxuriate, shop and, in general, enjoy an abundance of exotic experiences, as our dreams of adventure come to life! Love, Mésmera

ABOUT INTERNATIONAL DANCE STAR Mésmera: Mésmera grew up in San Diego, CA, where her childhood was all about movement: swimming, gymnastics, baton twirling, water ballet, hiking and cook-outs, all under the initiative of her father, Coach Rose. Whenever the men weren't around and the desire hit, her aunt, grandmother and mother would put on music and dance.

Discovering Modern Dance in High School fanned the spark in Mésmera, yet it wasn't until 10 years later, when she saw her first bellydancer, that her passion for the dance became her passion for life. Spinning her veils through 25 years of classes, performances, seminars, videos, festivals, film and TV credits, celebrity parties and directing Troupe Mésmerasha has shaped her into a dancer with depth and intent. Her articulate clarity of movement carries through to her teaching ability, making the learning experience most satisfying.

Mésmera encourages and empowers freedom of movement in dance as a creative paradigm for life. She draws from many sources: archetypes, geometry, anatomy, kinesiology, colors, Deities, animals and Nature. She integrates knowledge, awareness and Spirit and actively generates the embodiment of these elements with her students. The grace with which she blends heart and consciousness is inspiring, joyful and vital, bringing her entertainment art to a moving experience for her audience as well as her students. There's definitely more than a shimmy happening here, and that is why her name is Mésmera.

Since the release of her performance videos, Afrika: Mother of Dance, the main response has been, "Wow! We'd love to do that!! So, she created a special seminar designed for dancers, musicians and anyone wanting to take a Safari to the roots of dance, explore the fascinating link between Arabia and Africa, and gaze upon the 4,000,000 year old cradle of humankind.

Mésmera has spent the last 25 years performing and teaching in the Los Angeles area and throughout the United States, as well as Egypt, E. Africa and Brazil. Her clear and inspiring approach to the art makes her a popular instructor for all levels, and can be appreciated in the high quality of her videos. Film and TV credits fill her resume along with a list of Hollywood's biggest stars for whom she's danced. With dynamic stage presence, she generates passion and sensuality that her audiences applaud as vitally joyful and beautifully "Mésmerizing."

YOUR EXCITING ITINERARY: (subject to changes -- cost available by October, 2004.)

Day 1: Depart on International Flight.

Day 2: Arrive in Europe, (city varies with Airline; layover is optional), depart for Nairobi.

Day 3: Arrive Nairobi, Kenya, check into the gorgeous Safari Park Hotel. Dinner and time to explore some of its 65 acres of African ambiance.

Day 4: After breakfast, fly to the island of Lamu.. Oldtown attractions are oils, spices, the buzz at the marketplace, 16th century . The Islamic women in their veils add to the Arabian influence. We ferry to reach our beachfront hotel, and have lunch, swim, snorkel, perhaps sail on an old Indian Dhow to the coral reef and back or rest and luxuriate. Later, a nearby Giriama Tribe offers our first experience of village life and a chance to learn about their customs, famous three-legged drums, rhythms and steps. We'll be delightfully entertained by expert drumming and dancing ....... then it's OUR turn! Once back at the hotel, we'll have a delicious dinner that concludes with a performance by Mésmera. We sleep to the sound of the warm, blue Indian Ocean.

Day 5: Breakfast then beach with Mésmera for a dance class and a celebration of Sea and Sky before going to tour the town and its carved wooden doors and stone arches of another era. Dinner at the Hotel and .......... shall we dance? If drumming and dancing with our veils in the evening breeze on the beach isn't enough, there's always the Disco!

Day 6: Breakfast, then fly to Nairobi where our vehicles are ready to take us to Amboseli, a game reserve that sits in the lap of the majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro. We're in time for lunch at our charming oasis-like lodge where animals abound, especially elephants, and it's here we have our first game drive to behold the beauty of the beasts. After dinner we'll be visited by some of the local Masai as we sip a favorite drink around an outdoor firepit.

Day 7: Morning game drives are marvelous! After returning for breakfast, it's class with Mésmera, time to relax, sun, swim before lunch, write, nap? An afternoon game drive brings us to sunset at Observation Hill, where we can bask in the immense aura of Kilimanjaro and all life that surrounds it. We return to our lodge for dinner and an informal show ..... We're IT! Anyone who wishes to perform can bring semi or full costume as you prefer. A CD/Tape player, and possibly live drumming will be available.

Day 8: Leave for Nairobi after breakfast. We'll have time to shop, eat, swim, rest. Class with Mésmera and after dinner, we have an evening of tribal music and dance with musicians representing several different tribes (this group is professional with outstanding drummers -- don't even TRY to sit still). It's great fun and we'll learn a lot, just as they do when we also share our rhythms and dance with them!

Day 9: Breakfast and drive to the Tanzania Border. In Arusha, we'll stop for Lunch at a marvelous Italian Restaurant, then watch the terrain change as we wind our way up 9,000 feet into the mountains. We pass through nearly impenetrable forests to reach the famous Ngorongoro Crater. It's 13 miles across and one of the wonders of the world, with an estimated 5,000 animals who never migrate, spending their lives on its primordial floor. There's time before dinner to take in the awesome feel of this phenomenal place. We sleep easy, high on the rim of the Crater.

Day 10: First breakfast, then with 4 wheel drive, we'll descend into the belly of the Crater to discover its unique ecosystem: the forests, to visit a private elephants' "club".... males only, the pools for hippos with an odd ability to "roll over", outstanding birdlife, even Black Rhino do well here. The animals seem more tame, and sometimes come close enough to rest in the shade under our vehicle! We'll pick a special place for our picnic lunch and gaze 1,000 feet up at the encircling rock walls. Ascend before dark to our luxury perch on the rim, in time for Class with Mésmera, dine and let our spirits fly free for entertainment.

Day 11: A good breakfast will ready us for our next destination: The Olduvai Gorge and a step into the prehistoric cradle of humankind. Here we peer through 4,000,000 years to view our evolution. The museum is small but fascinating ..... and we're on the road to a rare treat: The Shifting Sands of the Mountain of the Gods, where one can cleanse body and soul and know the essence of rebirth. It's a wholly moving experience, so let's bring our veils! Picnic Lunch and continue on ...... to the Great Serengeti and hundreds of miles that about 2 million animals call "home". Amazing rock formations house lions, leopards, rock hyrax, and a variety of other creatures. Game drives reveal wandering herds of zebra, wildebeest, gazelle and the unforgettable experience of Nature unchanged by mankind. Lodge check-in and after a great dinner, there's time for sharing the magic of our safari adventures, stories, poetry, readings, and whatever the talents of our group might offer. A CD/Tape player is available.

Day 12: We have the luxury of a whole day to "track the exotic", sun, swim, eat, nap, opt for Afro/Belly Class with Mésmera and after Dinner, her performance makes a perfect nightcap.

Day 13: After breakfast we're off to one of the most incredible expanses of exotic wildlife on Earth: The Masai Mara. Once at our Luxury Tent Lodge, we'll have lunch and time to swim, explore the grounds or simply relax before our evening game drive and a fabulous assortment of animals. Dinner and fall asleep in comfort as you listen to the night 200 miles from civilization.

Day 14: Game drives are possible before or after breakfast. The thrill is never knowing what we'll see! As always, our drivers are excellent trackers. Hot Air Balloon rides over the Mara are an exciting option. Relax, swim, class with Mésmera and, after lunch, we'll go to a Manyatta to meet with the Masai and step into a way of life that's changed very little in thousands of years. Dinner at the lodge and a show by the Masai tribesmen to be followed by OURS.

Day 15: Breakfast before heading to Nairobi, where we'll check into our dayrooms at Safari Park Lodge, have Lunch, perhaps visit Giraffe Manor, pack, share a farewell dinner, and catch the flight home.

Day 16: Arrive home.
