Learn to Bellydance

Each class begins with a warm-up that starts internally with a few full inhalations and exhilations. Breathing can use every core muscle from the collar bone to the pubic bone while oxygenating the bloodstream. Particular focus is on glutes since they are responsible for shaping hip movement and all general muscle groups are included in preparation for dance.
Technique progresses in an organic manner, starting simply and adding layers and detail as students are ready. It's a full body workout with lots of combinations, tempo changes, variety and an occasional choreography. Often, veils and/or finger cymbals are used You may borrow, buy or bring your own.
Class generally ends with a brief improvisation on a theme that's announced and demonstrated. Sometimes a circle is formed so we're all dancing, yet usually each student takes a turn as there are benefits both obvious and subtle. Encouraging feedback and suggestions may be given.
